    If you insist on the 8 hour total instead of 7, then you must allow us to decide how long we need or want to sleep. Why can't we have 4 plus 4 then, again based on the comments above.

    I agree, but then the only options for use are listed as emergency or exceptional circumstances. You must be aware of circadian rhythms, the efforts to suggest power naps and the like, but what if a driver is delayed at a site and can get good rest, then complete the full hours later, or simply feels fatigue coming on, but can't, won't or is unable to take thew full 7 hour break at that time. I agree it must not be scheduled, that it should not be used regularly, but please do not simply take away another chance to better allow us to manage our fatigue.
