View the feedback we have received on the Heavy vehicle charges consultation report 2021–22 paper.

  • What are your views on the Infrastructure and Transport Ministers Meeting’s proposal to increase heavy vehicle registration and Road User Charges by 2.5 per cent in 2021–22?

In my opinion, until our nation's roads are held to the same standard and scrutiny as heavy vehicles and their drivers, the charges should be lowered if altered at all! We (owner drivers) are expected/have to maintain our equipment to the highest standards, whilst our dismal roads shake them to pieces! Our road network needs to be accredited just like the vehicles that travel on it/use it as a work place. The fees and charges we pay and then deal with the lingering threat of the disgraceful state our roads are in destroying our livelihoods. And setting us up for persecution at the hand of the law. So in conclusion, NO, until state or federal stand up, grow a pair and take charge on maintenance of our infrastructure and are held accountable to damage they cause through neglect, the fee should be lowered if altered at all.
