We regularly review the model Australian Road Rules (ARRs) to ensure the rules remain current and fit for purpose. The aim of this work is to consider how changes may improve the rules and support safety on Australian roads.
Project background
The model ARRs form the basis of road rules of each Australian state and territory. They contain the basic rules for motorists, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians, passengers and others.
The NTC maintains the ARRs. However, they are a model law and, as such, must be adopted into local state and territory laws to take legal effect.
Visit the ARRs page for more details.
