Background
At its meeting on 22 November 2019, the Transport and Infrastructure Council identified a preference for charges to rise by 2.5 per cent in 2020–21 and 2.5 per cent in 2021–22.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, the Hon Michael McCormack MP, directed the NTC to undertake public consultation on these proposed increases to heavy vehicle charges.
Governments have decided to freeze heavy vehicle charges for 2020–21 at 2019–20 levels.
