About NTC / Stakeholders / Commission meetings

On average the NTC's commissioners meet four times per year.

NTC Commission meetings

Our commission meetings operate under the National Transport Commission Act 2003 and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (Consequential and Transitional Provisions) Act 2014.

Our commissioners, in conjunction with the Transport and Industry Council are responsible for the strategic direction and performance of the NTC. An essential part of this responsibility is the establishment of a sound, risk-based system of control that provides reasonable assurance that the commission’s objectives will be met within an acceptable degree of residual risk. The board also has a tactical role in maintaining a watching brief over the external and internal environments, CEO performance and the control environment.

The commissioners work is linked to the commission's operations through direction of the CEO by way of policies and delegations. Commissioners have no day to day management role but is responsible for, and has authority to determine, all matters related to the policies, practices, management and operations of the NTC.
