Rail Productivity
Updated: 19 March 2009
|
NTC is conducting a strategic review of rail productivity within the Australian freight and passenger rail sectors. The review aims to identify opportunities for increased productivity within the rail industry.
As part of the review, NTC investigated impediments to improved productivity and the appropriate role of government in addressing productivity concerns.
The review comes in response to consultation with the industry and forms part of the NTC Strategic Plan 2006-07 to 2008-09, under the NTC’s Transport Efficiency objective.
A draft position paper was released comment in March 2009.
NTC has consulted extensively with industry and government to produce the draft position paper. Further high-level national-level consultation is underway to test the recommendations before submitting a final report to the Australian Transport Council (ATC) meeting in May 2009.
