NTC to present with world leaders at HVTT11 |

The National Transport Commission (NTC) will present in five sessions related to heavy vehicle issues on an international stage at international heavy vehicle symposium, HVTT11 to be held in Melbourne this March 14-17.
This is the first symposium of its kind to be held in Australia and will provide a forum for world experts to discuss the future of heavy vehicle transport technology, transport planning and policy making.
“HVTT11’s contribution to the transport industry is immense; the exposure to new technologies and information sharing will be instrumental in future transport planning, not only in Australia but worldwide,” Nick Dimopoulos, Chief Executive of NTC and Chair of the HVTT11 organising committee said.
NTC’s six presentations will include:

an international study of heavy truck safety, on behalf of the OECD Joint Transport Research Centre Working Group by Dr Jeff Potter, Senior Manager Safety;

a study of active vehicle stability systems and their influence on the Performance Based Standards (PBS) and scheme by Marcus Coleman, Manager Engineering and Productivity;
-
a paper on the NTC’s role in developing a world first standard for engine brake noise by Dr Neil Wong, Senior Manager Environment;
-
a paper on estimating the marginal cost of road wear on Australia's sealed road network by Matthew Clarke, Senior Manager Economics and Tim Martin and Thorolf Thoreson of ARRB Group; and
-
a plenary session on the PBS experience in Australia by Paul Sullivan, General Manager Communications and Strategy.

a study on the impact of trucks on road infrastructure, focussing on the effects on pavements and bridges, on behalf of the OECD Joint Transport Research Centre Working Group by Matthieu Bereni, Senior Policy Analyst Economics and Productivity.
A further 80 papers will be presented showcasing cutting edge technology, insights and expertise focusing on delivery of a more efficient, safe and environmentally sustainable future for transport.
