Seat and Belt Configurations for Heavy Vehicles

September 2005
Discussion Document on Options for Improved Design Requirements

The National Heavy Vehicle Safety Strategy identifies increasing seatbelt wearing compliance with drivers of heavy vehicles as a key strategic objective.  The NTC has commissioned a paper that looks at the issues of driver comfort and seat and belt configurations, with a view to ascertaining whether these factors relate to belt wearing compliance and whether any seatbelt design issues need to be resolved in order to contribute to better wearing rates.  In particular, public comment is sought on the accuracy of the information in the report, the feasibility of the proposed options, including supporting evidence and information and also suggestions for alternative options to be considered.
